Chilli Pepper Chenzo F1 Seeds
Chilli Seeds from Sow Seeds
Chenzo Chilli Pepper is an unusual compact plant (55 high by 50cm wide) that produces lots & lots of 5-6 cm long jet black chillies. It branches arch into a neat dome and the fruits hang like jewels below the bushy foliage.
Chenzo Chilli Pepper is a Capsicum annuum which is a species of the plant genus Capsicum native to southern North America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. This species is the most common and extensively cultivated of the five domesticated capsicums. The species encompasses a wide variety of shapes and sizes of peppers, both mild and hot, such as bell peppers, jalapeños, and cayenne peppers. Capsicum annuum is an evergreen Perennial growing to 1m by 1m at a medium rate. It is hardy to UK zone 9 and is frost tender. It is in leaf all year, in flower from July to September, and the seeds ripen from August to October. The species is hermaphrodite (which has both male and female organs).
In fact the pods do start off green and mature from black through to red, so it makes a very attractive patio plant when all 3 colours are on show. Chenzo chillies do remain black for a long time before turning red & the pods can be used for cooking etc when black or red either fresh or dried but to maintain productivity keep picking the chillies.
Chenzo is very productive and crops early and for a long time and the pods have a medium-hot heat of 45,000 SHU. Chenzo Chilli pepper has been specifically bred within the UK so can cope with our 'mixed up' weather better than most chillies. Chenzo is a productive little chilli pepper and well worth growing!
