Cucumber Lemon Vegetable Seeds
Vegetable Seeds from Sow Seeds
Cucumber Lemon is an unusual round yellow cucumber. They are at their best when picked about golf to tennis ball size and are still a pale yellow colour. They are mild, fresh-tasting with crisp skin.
They are easy to grow, although take a while to begin to fruit but once they do there is no stopping them. Regular picking will ensure there are plenty of cucumbers but do support vines as they can become heavy with fruits.
Cucumber Lemons fresh taste is great for salads and sandwiches and any larger bright yellow ones do well pickled too!
Cucumber Lemon Vegetable Seed Information
Seed Quantity: | Approx 15 seeds per pack. |
Site: |
Sunny, sheltered site.
|
When to Sow: |
March - May in greenhouse.
|
How to Sow: | Sow seeds 1cm deep in individual 8-9cm pots at a temperature of at least 21C. They should germinate within 7-10 days. Pot on into 25cm pots as soon as the first leaves have opened fully. Gradually 'harden off' plants before finally planting out for 3-4 days in late May. The plants should be spaced at 50cm apart and a hole dug that is 30cm deep and wide and back-filled with well-rotted manure & a mix of soil. The spot should be topped off with a mound of the surplus soil and the cucumber planted into the top. The mound allows water to drain away from the stem thus preventing stem rot. Another sowing can be made in May to prolong the harvesting season. |
Care: |
They like a lot of water so keep well-watered especially in dry weather. The plants will require tieing in to a support so just use canes tied in teepee arrangement to a height of 1.5m. When the cucumber reaches the top, pinch out the tip to encourage fruiting.

Harvest: | July to October. Fruit are at their best when 20-25cm long. |
