Gusto Purple is a very attractive medium heat Chilli plant with pods that mature from green through to red and then purple, so at any one time there will be 3 different colours on the plant.
Gusto Purple is a Capsicum annuum which is a species of the plant genus Capsicum native to southern North America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. This species is the most common and extensively cultivated of the five domesticated capsicums. The species encompasses a wide variety of shapes and sizes of peppers, both mild and hot, such as bell peppers, jalapeños, and cayenne peppers. Capsicum annuum is an evergreen Perennial growing to 1m by 1m at a medium rate. It is hardy to UK zone 9 and is frost tender. It is in leaf all year, in flower from July to September, and the seeds ripen from August to October. The species is hermaphrodite (which has both male and female organs).
Gusto Purple is a reasonably compact plant & reaches between 35-45cm tall making it suitable for containers. It produces many medium heat fruits that are about 6cm long by 1.75cm wide. Gusto Purple has been specifically developed for the UK climate so can be grown on outside. But keep a watch out for unseasonally cold weather & bring in if need be.
