Green Manure Spring Mix Seeds
Green Manure Seeds from Sow Seeds
Our Spring mix includes Mustard, Tares and Italian Ryegrass which make an excellent combination to grow especially in early spring as they germinate at low temperatures.
Mustard is quick growing and can be sown from March - September for a period of 2-4 months. It suits most soils and produces lots of leafy growth - excellent for soils lacking organic matter. The bulky foliage helps to improve soil texture and moisture retention once incorporated. It is part of the brassica family.
Produces lots of bulky foliage that improves the soils fertility by adding organic matter when dug in; improves the texture of the soil and also suppresses weeds. Tares is also good at fixing nitrogen in the soil, which is good for the following crop as nitrogen helps to promote healthy leaf and stem growth. It is part of the legume family.
A good at suppressing weeds and fits anywhere into crop rotation plans. It is not as invasive as perennial ryegrass and has the ability to lift nitrogen from the soil and once dug in slowly release it to the following crop.
