Sweetcorn Minipops F1 Seeds
Vegetable Seeds from Sow Seeds
Sweetcorn Minipops F1 are easy to grow and produce 4-5 fabulous tasty baby sweetcorn per plant. These homegrown mini corns are sweeter, crunchier and so much tastier than shop bought.
They are great in stir-fries, excellent steamed whole and also sweet enough to eat raw in salads! We like ours cooked in the oven with butter, chilli flakes and melted cheese on top! Delicious!
To enjoy them at their best pick Sweetcorn Minipops F1 cobs as soon as the silks emerge from the ears and the tassels darken when they are about 10-13cm long. Be aware that mice love Sweetcorn so pick as soon as ripe to ensure you get your valuable bounty. They can however be left to mature and can be used for popcorn!
Have you tried them pickled? They make a great combination with Jalapeño chillies...read our pickling recipe [HERE]

Indoor Sowing Information
Site: | A sunny spot sheltered from wind. |
When to Sow: | March to May. |
How to Sow: |
Sow seeds 2.5cm deep into individual pots filled with good quality seed compost, water carefully and keep at around 13-15C. They are not keen on root disturbance so transplant very carefully. Harden off seedlings for 3/4 days before planting outside and space 25cm between each plant.
|
Care: |
Earth up stems in summer to give better anchorage as they are prone to toppling over as the corn grows. Keep well-watered and top dress soil with organic matter periodically. They do need a warm season to perform at their best.
|
Harvest: | July to October - harvest them while the tassels are still blonde. Wait until the cobs reach 10-13cm long, and then harvest one to check before you harvest the others. |
