Cabbage Greyhound Seeds
Vegetable Seeds from Sow Seeds
Cabbage Greyhound is an old English Heritage favourite and the earliest pointed cabbage for early spring sowing and harvesting during summer and early autumn. Produces firm hearts of excellent flavour
Cabbage Greyhound is a flavoursome cabbage that has little core and very few wasted outer leaves. Plants are more narrow in growth allowing closer cropping and less waste of outer leaves. This RHS AGM variety is neat and compact - ideal where space is at a premium. Height: 30cm. Spread: 40cm.
Greyhound is an ideal variety for those with small gardens as it can be sown close and successionally.
Cabbage Greyhound is an excellent cabbage that can grace the table nearly all year round. A much-welcomed variety that can help fill the hungry gap of early to mid-spring when little else is available to harvest.
Cabbage Greyhound Vegetable Seed Information
Seed Quantity: | Approx 270 seeds per pack. |
Site: |
They prefer well-consolidated ground. They do not like freshly manured soil and do not plant this after another brassica as it can lead to a build-up of disease especially club-root.

When to Sow: |
Indoor sowings February to July |
How to Sow: |
Sow seeds Feb - July in trays or modules under glass at 13C, or later sowings directly in a seedbed thinly 1cm deep in rows 15cm apart in a well prepared seed bed. As soon as glasshouse seedlings show their first pair of leaves, prick off into trays 5cm apart or thin modules to one seedling per cell. Gradually harden off before planting out, spacing plants 30cm apart between plants and 30-38cm between the rows. Outdoor sowings should be thinned to 7-10cm apart, then once plants are 15cm tall, they can be lifted and transplanted to their final planting positions, spaced the same as detailed above. Well suited to successional sowing. A last sowing in late July should give a crop cutting in October. |
Care: |
Keep well-watered in summer and occasionally in winter if ground dry. Hoe occasionally to keep weed free, and build up soil around base to help keep them upright.

Harvest: | June - October |
